I keep getting the p0300 on my 96 2 door tahoe and I cant figure it out..

so far ive changed

sparks
wires
spider

the one thing the mechanic found was the gears on the distributor were chipped so he just changed the gear/teeth on the end of the distributor and put it back in and wit worked.

He said maybe the camshaft got damaged? but he said theres no way of checking it unless he takes it out..

The other code is p0141

The truck didnt have any cats it was staright pipe so I just 2 new ones installed so I can pass smog legally in Cali...

could of the straight pipes damaged the 02 sensors?

Any help? :]

Have the mechanic check the cylinder misfire history. It should point out exactly which cylinders are having the misfire issues. What brand of parts do you have on now? He could have checked the camshaft gear teeth when he had the dizzy removed. Work on solving these issue before replacing the left cylinder back aft O2 sensor over a built in heater issue.

yeah thats what i ment to say the camshaft gear was stripped so we went to the junkyard to get a new gear to replace it and it worked fine

But i feel a small jump on the engine its not major but I can feel something

the sparks are ac delco ( i asked autozone for the origanal ones)
the cables are bosh
the spider was just some random parts store

I also got the fuel pump and fuel filter replaced

The truck idles at 7000 rim
I can feel the little jumper every 3 to 4 secs at idle

From now on unless moding something stick with delphi or delco parts. Can you get the cylinder misfire history so you can narrow down what cylinders might be dropping out on you?

get a shop to do it. they should have better scan tools. for the same cost they should evaluate the entire set of data their tool can access to look for anomalies.

Did you actually remove the distributor cap and check the inside for oxidation attack? If it's not a Delco cap and it has brass points you might as well chunk that thing and get a new one. Even if you clean those points you can still have problems. Like Sunlit said, stick with the Delco parts, especially on ignition items.
