Two separate issues:

First one: The speedometer and tachometer on this 96 Yukon I just bought do not work. Complete noob here so not sure how to test. I did notice the speedo go up to about 5mph then drop back down once or twice. This is even at highway speeds. Tacho hasn't moved at all.

Not sure if I need a new gauge cluster or not, need to test it? The other stuff, oil, etc., still work just specifically Tacho/Speedo. If I do need a new gauge cluster I assume to install it I just yank that panel around it that attaches to the rest of the dash then unbolt it and slide in a new cluster?

Interior lighting doesn't turn on when the driver door is opened. I noticed a small hole right above the fuse box on the driver side. The hole on the passenger side actually has a little black switch which is what I am guessing is called the "door sense switch"

Where can I get a new switch assembly?

Thanks all.

Oh I forgot about these too:

The power window switch is kinda weird. If I set it to the right mirror it goes left down and right but not up. If I set it to the left mirror it doesn't do anything at all, not sure if the switch is bad or what's up with that.

The auto window down switch doesn't always engage in "auto" probably just needs that whole switch set replaced.

The front windshield wipers do not move or do anything, probably need new motors or something, where would I find those or troubleshoot that? The rear wipers work great.

Thanks again all for your help! :)

Unfortunately I already checked that, I was hoping it would have been that easy.

Sprayed some cleaner on the power window switch and got that working enough to move the mirrors :)

The windshield wiper makes a buzzing noise when I try to do anything now (didn't notice it before)...I remember seeing a thread about resoldering some connector or something somewhere but not sure where. Can anyone point me in the direction for this? Thanks!

Your TRANS fuse run tranny solenoids AND tach and speedo if you have an auto tranny. if you have no shift problems you may just check for a broken or weak contact on the pink wire leading to the cluster connector. It will be fun.

Yes to door jamb/ dome light switch.

mirror switch fails like that sometimes. replace it.

And as long as window moves up/down normally otherwise replace the switch. the auto function is control by the switch.

The front wiper system had a recall from 94-96 for bad solder joints on the control board inside the motor assembly, if you have the power available to the yellow wire on motor unit with key on accy or run positions and varying volts on the brown wire when moving the selector switch thru it paces the motor unit will need work. You can get the whole unit or the control board should be available alone as well. The system runs of the WIPER 25A fuse from dash.

Where is the control unit on the truck? Do you have a picture?

Also, replaced the door sense switch today. Apparently the old one had snapped off or something.

Also, is there a way to pop the switches for the power windows and stuff off without takings the whole inside of the door out?

control unit for wipers? built in the motor assembly under the hood.

The bezel that switches are on comes off. Gently pry the rear side up and the front hook will slide out.

There's like 3 or 4 things on the firewall side so I don't know which one it could possibly be =/

Nothing jumps out and says wiper motor that I can visibly see.

on your firewall around the brake booster just to the right of it. you will find a module that looks like it has a motor sticking out the side. it has a grey connector with a blue locking tab on its wiring harness.
