Greetings.

A couple of weekends ago I decided to bring out my two door Tahoe to make an errand to the store. As I'm driving I hear a loud backfire and then the engine dies couldn't get her to start back up, so I ended up towing her home. While in the middle of trying to diagnose whats going on after changing spark plugs, wires, distributor, etc I noticed there's no fuel going coming out the schrader vavle when pressed; put a valve pressure tester on it and you can hear the pump priming when turning the key. The gauge will briefly hit 60psi when you turn the key on the on position but instantly drop to 0 after its done priming it will not hold any pressure. After changing the fuel filter yesterday I still have no start since there is no fuel getting to the engine, I just bought a new tank and ordered a fuel assembly and fuel pump for her today. I'm hoping it's just a dead fuel pump but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Fuel pressure 62-68#. Sometimes cycling key to on 3 times will bring it up if weak and not failed.
Put a scanner on it and post codes retrieved also.

Likely on the right track with the new pump but when you see the pressure fall, are you sure power is getting to the fuel pump? Maybe needs a new relay.
