I just bought a 97 Yukon. There is an intermittent noise in the front end that seems to be coming from the right drive shaft housing. The people i bought it from said it had been like that for years and that the dealer could not figure it out. I took it to a local transmission shop and the guy told me it waS the carrier bering and housing bering the shaft runs through. He also told me that it would go out real soon. Fixing it now will be a real $$ problem. Is there a way to just disconnect both axles and front drive shaft or just remove the whole differential and still be able to drive the truck? That way i could still use it until I have the money to replace the bad parts.

Also in searching for the cause of the noise I found that most of the steering parts are worn out and need to be replaced. How hard is it to pull the steering box? It has a small leak and the pitman arm is bad so I thought I would install the new ones together.

Thanks.
