Took it into the mechanic to scan it for me, and its coming up as an O2 sensor. By reading this forum I'm guess from previous posts that its the "Spider Valve" (Sp) problem that I've read about. How much are these to replace? How much are these to replace?(From Canada so prices might be a bit different for us) Is there anything else I should replace while I am having this done? Its had a recent tune up I.E. Plugs, Wires, Air Filter, Cap & Rotor, fresh fluids all around. Its got new ball Joints, Idler arm, pitman arm, front brakes, rear brakes, full exhaust from manifold back, new tires all around. I want her to last me for years hense why I'm putting so much into her. So your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Kent

unknown at this time.
Uh, what is a spider valve? Perhaps you know of another name for it. Usually an O2 sensor problem is fixed by replacing the offending sensor. What codes are you getting exactly?

I've read if previous posts people got the same problem with it coming up as on O2 sensor code, when they then replaced something they refered to as a "spider system" of some sort. They weren't really using technical terms and now for some reason I can't find the post for it. I don't know the code as my mechanic just told me that the code is for an O2 sensor. All I remember reading was they replaced the system right around the same area as the fuel regulator on the top of the engine.

EDIT:

went back and found out everyone refers to it as the Spider Injectors or a "spider system", but couldnt find the exact thread I was reading last night. All I know is she shakes when shes idiling, and really doesn't rev or accelarate unless you floor it.

I think the spider system you are referring is the fuel injection harness. Dont see what that has to do with an 02 code

I think what the original poster might be inferring is that his O2 sensor triggering may have been caused by the injectors dumping too much fuel into the system.

For the Original Poster: When the mechanic did the scan what codes did he find. That should be your first place to start. If you pull the air intake off the throttle body do you smell a lot of fuel? Have you pulled any plugs to see how they look to see if it is running rich? Just some suggestions places to start before you start throwing a lot of money into it.

I've asked him what codes he got and I've yet to hear back from him at this time. I haven't pulled anything off at this time, its at the shop and I'm stuck at work. I will let you guys know the codes as soon as I do.

Ok so got it back from my Mechanics, he said it was my O2 sensors causing problems so he replaced the one for each bank. However this morning the SES light came on again, had it scanned and it came back as P0157 code Bank 2 Sensor 2 Low Voltage is what I was told. I just had those sensors replaced, so I dont understand where its going wrong. Any advice guys? please?

I replaced the spider injectors myself. I think I paid something like $240 or $250 from Amazon. It wasn't that hard of a job.

Which sensors did the mechanic replace? You said he replaced one for each bank but there are 2 per bank, one in front of each of the cats and one after each. The ones in front of the cats handle fuel management and the ones after the cat read the quality of the emissions.

The code you are getting indicates that the one after the cat on the passenger side is generating the code. You should be able to tell based on looking under the truck as to which ones were replaced and go from there. I would drive it for a bit and see if the SES resets itself, I am not sure but I think it resets at 50 miles - someone correct me if I am wrong here :).

Sorry, I should also update that since replacing those 2 front O2 sensors the rough idle and problems reving have gone away. She has much more power now, and purrs like a kitten. Runs fine at highway speeds, and has no problems accelerating.
