I am looking at a 98 Yukon. The two lower brake lights don't work. The third brake light does. The rear lights come on when you turn on the headlights. The reverse lights work also. I have changed the bulbs and it didnt fix it. It is just the lower brake lights that don't work. Any ideas on what this could be?

Thanks for you help

Could be a few things, but I'm guessing that the problem is with the multi-function switch at the column. That's what I was told about mine - currently hazards don't work. I was able to get the brake lights/turn signals to work by wedging something against the hazard button. Still need to replace it, but don't have the time/money to pull the steering column apart and replace it with a $300 part.

unknown at this time.
If all the fuses are intact then indeed your multi-switch is dueced. Specifically the hazard switch section. It has the final say on what your tail lights do under what circumstances. It is replaced as a whole assembly for about $170 for the delco brand.
