Hello,

I have been looking around for a bit for a Tahoe/Yukon. Recently I found a Denali that needs the brake lines changed.

Some of the reading I have done, says Denalis are a 'Locking Rear Diff' but the description of this one say 'LSD'

Are the Denali models any less trail capable than a standard Yukon/Tahoe?

This will be mainly driven on road and some light dirt roads, but will want to build it up a little over time. I would think the Denali would be fine for that, but is there any reason to not off road a Denali model?

thanks.

From what i understand there is zero difference suspension difference between a denali and a standard yuk. The other thing you may want is mud flaps to protect your paint. As for the lock rear it is just a lsd. They kind of suck because they tend to explode with hardcore offroading. But I've seen plenty of jacked up denalis or obs escalades.

Open the glove box. You will see a sticker with a bunch of 3 diget codes. (sorry can't spell) Number and letters in combination.
Find the G80. If you have that it's a locker.
Will post the gear ratio's also.

The factory locker works, and works good. Problem is a 10 bolt is not very strong. The G80 or factory locker has it's weak points. Bigger tires very aggressive tires, etc... are not the best for it.

The factory locker works in this manner.
Always acts as an open diff. (one tire drives) Keeps it's street manners this way.
When your tires does slip and spin. Give or take 100 rpm difference between tires it locks. Now both spin the same.
Once it hits 25 mph (give or take) it unlocks. Keeps it's street manners.

So for a street driven light off road it's fine.
Bigger tires, any real off road even light get an automatic locker.
Off road get a manual locker.
