Any suggestions on removing the gas tank on a 1999 Tahoe 4-door? Can I disconnect the steel fuel lines while the tank is still strapped up, or do I need to loosen the strap bolts, and lower it down to disconnect the steel lines?
At this point I am not seeing where I can disconnect the lines while the tank is still fastened to the frame.

1. Drain as much fuel as possible.
2. Raise the vehicle on a lift
3. Support (and lift slightly) the tank so you can disconnect the support straps.
4. Lower the tank a few inches
5. Disconnect the fuel lines (flex lines at the tank) and fuel inlet/vent hoses

Great! I will try that. Are the flex lines connections at the top of the tank?

Also, are you familiar with where to locate a Code: GFU or Code: GFV information needed to select the correct fuel pump for a '99 Tahoe?

Maybe GFU is without RFI, and GFV is with RFI, but not sure.

Yes, the flex lines are at the top of the tank (where the fuel pump assembly "screws" onto the tank).

I'm not sure of the code, but get the model WITH the RFI reduction - may cost a little more, but you'll definitely be happier with it in the long run.
