I just bought this thing last week and it shelled the Xfer case about 60 miles from home. I had it towed to a shop who quoted me about $1000 to fix. I gave them the go-ahead.

Well, they called back today and said they quoted the price on the wrong case and that a used would be about 900 (case only) and a rebuilt would be about $1100.

It's a 99 Yukon SLE with electric shift. I'm guessing it's the 243C case that I need (I have no idea how I came to this conclusion). Can y'all confirm that's the right one? Can you give me any insight on where I might be able to get one cheaper?

I'd appreciate any help I can get. One of the reasons I like to buy GM is the amount of forum help I find. I've also got a 98 Regal GS and the support I've gotten on forums has been awesome!

Thanks all!

James

other options would be getting a quote from some other shops and have them match the price, or trying to find a pulled one from a salvage yard, most of them around here will give you some sort of warranty on parts like that.

i found one on craigslist when i thought mine might be going out for 75 bucks.
most junk yards will give a 30-60 day warranty on stuff like that too.
