Has anyone tried one of those 9V settings savers that you plug into your cigarette lighter? If so do they work or are they junk? What brand is the best?

wouldn't bother with it. why you want?

No battery backup for ScangaugeE, lost all my MPG setup calibration efforts with a loose battery cable the other day.

Also my JVC stereo reverts back to the retarded-teenager light show and looses all its presets when the battery cable is loose or disconnected.

I'm still working all the bugs out of my Hoe from the previous owner. After the battery cable got loose I found that he had not tightened the battery hold-down the last time he changed the battery. Loose battery hold-down will eventually = Loose battery cables from vibration/rough terrain.

He was an Engineer, Engineer usually = Too **** retentive and full of yourself to pay attention to small details. Hence, all the prematurely worn front end parts from lack of greasing that came as such a pleasant surprise a while back. There Rant Over, Thank You

unknown at this time.
wasn't a very good engineer if he didn't worry about the small stuff. the device will not work as a back-up device like you think. it will become damaged over time. just fix you batt cable. it happens.

btw exactly what calibration efforts the scan gauge has a flash memory. if you mean the actually mpg reading in display that resets on just about every trip.

Upon the second fillup you compare the amount of gallons scangaugeE thinks that you used with what the pump says you added to the vehicle. If there is a difference, there is a function to bias scangaugeE.

I was on my second tankfull when the battery cable vibrated loose, so I was unable to see if my bias correction agreed with the gas pump because scangaugeE reset everything when power was lost. It tells you in the setup instructions to not unplug scangaugeE while performing the cal process (First 2 tankfulls).

I did tighten everything down, its all good now and have restarted the Calibration but I figured the memory saver might be good for any future failures such as dead battery, ect. Resetting the stereo is actually more of a hassle than recaling the scangaugeE.
