Hey guys,

Time to replace belts on the ol 15 Yukon.

I learned it's imperative to remove the A/C refrigerant BEFORE replacing the AC belt. Anyone know what this is about?
That's not true. Cut the old belt and install a new one. Who said the system must be discharged to change a belt. That's idiotic.

LOL, Learned? I can't wait for this one
only thing I "learned" was to use a oem or good name brand belt otherwise they squeak like a cat having sex in the middle of the night on a fence in the backyard.
and the dam oem belt is $50+ everywhere

You don't need to do it. Period. BUT, while you are changing the belts, if your truck uses idler tension pulleys (versus a stretch belt), change out those tensioners as well.
Yessir. For clarity for the OP, the '15 Yukon uses a stretch belt on the A/C compressor, and a tensioner pulley + an idler pulley on the main serpentine belt.
