Are you saying that you believe you have a bad Compressor Clutch?

Have you checked if your Compressor Relay under the hood is OK?

I could be wrong about this (Sunlit help me on this one?) But I thought at the underhood Fuse Box aren't there two relays that are the exact same part-part number, both the Compressor, and Brake Relays?

If so, a simple swap could be performed to see if it is not a bad Relay. This is only about an $11 part if I remember.

Probably easier to just replace the entire compressor, as I understand it is a testy process insuring the correct Clutch Gap spacing which is something like .020" or so.

Of course an entire Compressor swap for new unit can cost more money as well, means an evac, and refrigerant charge as well as the correct PAG Oil added to the compressor Usually, what Oil is drained from the old Compressor should be added to the new one.

unknown at this time.
the clutch can require a replacement if worn out and is available and installable separately from the compressor. no brake relay i the suv's but two are interchangeable i just can't recall which ones. service gap is .020 to .030".
