Air not blowing cold. I bought a recharge kit but no suck from can because compressor wouldn't kick on. Did paperclip to plug against passenger side wall and noticed the draw like it wanted to go but I didn't hear any click over. Does this say the compressor needs changed? If so that, drier, orafice, hoses all I need? How much would shop charge verses me doing with. Thanks all.

What draw? amperage? did you actually test for volts on the a/c clutch? better yet what plug did you try jumping specifically? even better how did all this start?

OK. I bought truck a month or so ago and just tried to use air. Turn on and blows warm air. Got my little AC pressure hose and it read low. Got a can of fill, hooked it up and it wouldn't take any from the can. Turned car off, let set a few mind, turned on car then AC to see if compressor would turn on. A buddy said to paper clip wire harness in pic and I did. Im not too savy on knowing what settings to look at on the volt meter nor which plugs/wires to check (haven't got that far in class at work). The draw I was talking about was when I paper clip, the engine revs a little, air sucks in the intake, and then engine drops back down. No audible click from compressor

check for 12+v at compressor clutch connector when you turn the system on. if not test the relay and compressor fuse in the power box near the firewall.

If you aren't at least familiar with ac , I would recommend letting a pro handle it for a speedier more accurate fix.

+1.

I can't tell what you're "paper clipping" because the picture you sent doesn't show a paper clip. Hopefully it was to the low side cycling switch and not something else. If you heard the motor rev a little, it could be because the computer thinks the compressor was commanded on and gave the idle air system a few more rpms - which is the expected behavior. But yeah, the air systems we have in these trucks are unforgiving and unless you absolutely can't afford a professional and are willing to do a ton of reading, it's probably best to seek a pro. I've done lots of "trial and error" myself over the course of many years, and I'm still not sure the error was worth the cost of the trial.

The compressor won't kick on with low pressure and the compressor isn't +12v all the time, only when the compressor is running.
