Yes they are. It's REALLY simple to change them out. Get the valve tool and you hook it on the valve un-screw it to take out and screw in the new one. Then get soapy water and see if you see any bubbles. If you do it didn't set right, then you press on it and release and should set itself. Real cheap to do. Then go get a/c filled up.

STOP!!!!

THEY ARE NOT THE SAME AND THEY ARE NOT LIKE TIRE VALVES!!!

Those are the high and low pressure hvac QC(quick connect) fittings. #1 being the high pressure test point an # 2 being the low pressure test point. do not mess with them yourself. judging from the looks of it you can kiss that entire hose assembly goodbye right now. Seek professional help if you want to keep your a/c system operational.

they are schrader valves, but not the same as tire schrader valves. I wouldn't use tire valves because the a/c can see pressures above 200 psi which is much higher than a tire.

try an auto parts store for an a/c shrader valve. The stores around here have a repair kit that comes with valves and new caps.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schrader_valve. that description includes a threaded outer body like a tire setup or like the r-12 systems implemented for the most part up till 1994 or the test port on the fuel pressure line on the vortec engines. it does not include the hvac quick disconnect found in '95 and newer vehicle's a/c system. and you can not just use the same valve core as from tire valves. the sealing material used in the cores is different for refrigerant then it is with tire valve cores.

not that but the refrigeration can come out and cause frost burns. very bad if you get it in the eyes. Take it to a professional to get the system, evac, vacume test for leaks, replace the valve and recharged.
