Hi guys Im new here, and a new owner of a low mileage (68,600) 2000 LT tahoe 5.3, i started to have the ABS brake light come on out of the blue and read about it online, however im at a loss here, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Things i've done/tried so far:

Cleaning of hub location rust build up etc(altough) it was clean of front abs speed sensors (no luck)
Replaced both front hubs with new sensors(no luck)
Replaced rear speed sensor(no luck)
Replaced ABS pump also with EBCM from wrecker (still not fixed)

Errors I've got : erratic speedo, trans wont shift.
Computer readings gave just one code: C0236 rear wheel speed signal circuit missing. Also live data stream showed front left & right sensor speed reading, but rear sensor stuck at 3mph while driving.

Has anyone had this error and if someone could share any tips where to go from here i'd be grateful.

When you replaced the EBCM, did you prep the area on the frame for the ground with a wire wheel or something like that to ensure a good ground? If not, try that and see if helps.

I did not see a ground wire running from the abs pump, however the brace that holds the abs pump is totally rusted. do you recommend i run a ground wire from the pump and brush the frame and mount it there where it has good contact?

also any ideas on C0236 rear wheel speed signal circuit missing? could this be an earthing issue?

thanks for the help though. @Freedom Motorsports, i'll report back with the progress.

Anyone ever solve this problem?
If you are talking about the ABS and Brake light popping on together randomly, it is often the ABS module has bad solder joints. Pretty easy to fix if you can remove it and solder. I’d check grounds first though. Mine was the solder joints, repair was free and has lasted

Hello, I have the same problem on my tahoe (2001). The ABS light occasionally lit up. There was rust all over the place. I redid the solder joints, and it worked for several months but for some time, it lights up constantly. I'll have to disassemble everything again and check the solder joints (maybe a weld was mishandmed)

I found this thread and I checked the connection of those same mangled up wires and found the pins pulled out of the connector. I pushed them back into the connector and had no more brake or abs issues since. But it did die on me on the way back. Won’t start and after about 30 minutes it’s starts and runs a few minutes and dies again. That what me and my husband are trying to diagnose now.
