The front left ABS sensor on my 2004 Tahoe went bad, so I bought a replacement. Apparently, a previous owner had at some point put an aftermarket hub in that used a sensor that did not protrude as much into the hub. I've tried using a washer as a spacer to mimic it, but apparently it's a very sensitive clearance because the best I did got it to where the ABS light wouldn't come on until 40mph, but obviously that isn't good enough.

So now I figure it's time for a hub assembly. Only, the right side also has an aftermarket hub. For the ABS to work, will I need to replace both?

Most likley , If one Hub is the problem and they both are same in design and make , Replacing one might not make a difference

Well, maybe I should clarify. The sensor for the front left went bad (open loop). It was narrowed down to be the cause of the problem. Were the hubs OE, I could just replace the sensor and go about my business, but because they're aftermarket they're designed for a different sensor depth, which I don't seem to be able to replicate. The right one is fine. My question is would putting just a left hub on, so a different abs sensor from the right, albeit the "same," confuse the system?
