When I try to turn on the AC the AC button turns on. But then I hear a whirring or rapid clicking noise seaming to come from the passenger side engine compartment or dash, couldn't locate it. AC did not work during the noise. Now the AC still does not work but the noise is gone. The blower operates fine but the air is neutral (not heated or cooled). It sounded like a small motor trying to turn over unsuccessfully. Is anyone familiar with this? I'm thinking it is the compressor but wanted to see if anyone else had tracked this down.

Possibly a blend door or actuator (or both) has broke. You would need to connect to a factory level scan tool to look for fault codes in the hvac system.
