Are AC compressors interchangeable between these year models trims? Buddy has a brand new compressor for a 2020 suburban sitting on his shelf I'm looking to buy, the part number on it is 84317509. Called the dealership says mine requires part 86798586 looked up that part number and it's supercedes part number 84317510.

Only place I can find info on my buddies 84317509 part is in ebay listings. Can't find that part number on any GM website. The compressor does have a GM tag with this part number on it.

I'd ask the dealership to run that number. If it's really a GM part, it should say what it fits. My guess is yes, but who knows if they changed the orifice tube, etc between years which probably dictates the number change.

My gut would tells me it probably would work, given how many other parts fit the older generation, yet have new numbers.

compressor tag states it takes either 1234yf or 134a

Weird there are multiple ebay listing of used compressors where their compatibility chart supposedly fits year models 2015-2020 tahoe, burb, yukon,xl all have almost identical part numbers on the tags.. 84317509 84317510 84317511. Just dont know where ebay gets their compatibility charts and if they can be trusted.

Correct. Tried to do the same thing and I had to take my '17 to the dealer.

What do you mean it wouldn't charge? Clutch wouldn't engage automatically? Would engage but wouldn't pull refrigerant from can for some reason? If everything plugs up and bolts up and clutch engages. only thing left that might prevent it would be the compressor solenoid not opening correctly i would think.

Part of the reason im wanting to swap compressors is

1. Mainly I think i have a weak compressor, its new but aftermarket. Think the blower fan is overpowering it. Can only get 52-55 degree air out of the vents at max blower. 43 at best on 50% or less blower (auto ac puts it max blower when remote starting. Only gets it cool. Would like it cold when I enter, probably asking to much) Wifes terrain blows 40 degrees max blower 35-39 degress when blower set to 50% or less.

2. Think i have a sticky solenoid (shows to be commanded to 100% but blowing hot sometimes until I actuate it to 0% then back to 100% with my scan tool).
