My 08 Tahoe started blowing hot air from the passenger side vents. The driver side blows cold like it should. If I turn the ignition off and then start truck again it will work like it should for a while. I heard of this with the 04 and older models but haven't heard much about it on the newer models. Just wondering if any of you guys have experienced this problem and would be able to provide assistance. Any help with this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Things I tried

Different settings on AC control
Disconnecting the battery to reset computer

When you disconnected the battery did you turn all the heat/AC controls to off?

Did you hear all the noises when you restarted the system as the actuators reset themselves?

It really does sound like the door mode actuator on that side may be going out.

Cajun LTZ,

I am very sorry to hear that you’re experiencing this issue with your vehicle. Have you spoken with your dealership about this issue?

Thank you!

Yeah I spoke with the dealership about it. They said it would be about $500 -$600 to fix it out of warranty. The actuator cost around $120 on the net.
I will probably try to change it myself. Does anybody have a diagram on where the passenger side actuator is located? Also do you think it would be worth it to let the dealership do it?

Same Problem

My 2006 Tahoe is doing the same this. Intermittently the passenger side goes hot and driver stays cool. At other time the air conditioning cycyles up to the defrost vent then down to feet then back to vents. Also, the fan will not run past 4 when the air is working right. Rear air works fine. If someone knows where the pass. side actuator is sure would help. EBAy has them all the time.

I have a 2008 yukon that just did this the other day, after it lost all power after I shut it off. this is an electrical problem that I have been dealing with since I baught this POS last year. But this was the first time the AC done this. The dealer said the AC needed an update in the computer and that was $90. But since all this happened last tuesday, it has been blowing lighter on the passenger side. I have no idea what is wrong with it now...

Update.... brought truck to the dealership. They reprogrammed it and it fixed the problem. The best part is that they did it for free.... So I would defiantly have dealership run a scan on it before changing any actuators or other high dollar parts...

Thanks for the update. Mine does this on the driver side occassionally. I hope it's a simple reprogram like yours.
