I am considering purchasing a 04 XL Denali (165K+/- mi). I am located in MN. Are there any common weak areas on these trucks that I should pay particular attention too when looking? Any info on common repairs that should have been done at this point especially drivetrain/engine. Any particular areas that are prone to rusting first? I plan on bringing it to a dealership prior to purchasing it to have them look it over as well. My friend has an 04 Denali XL as an original owner and he loves it still. It has been a real good truck for him. Would love to hear your thoughts as to any "beware" items.

I have an '04 SLT with 135k on the clock. Other than normal maintenance, I have just recently replaced the water pump and idler arm. I have changed belts, a leaking washer fluid reservoir, faulty reservoir pumps. Still running on the original fuel pump.

Water and Fuel Pump are common issues. The automatic climate control does have issues if the actuators are broke and will either blow cold or hot air, depending on which position it is stuck on. Replaced my rear air actuator vent door. Oh and I replaced the Shocks with BILSTEINS.

Overall these are great trucks and with normal maintenance as well as TLC, these trucks will run a long time. Mid to high 200k miles are not uncommon.

Keep us posted on your progress and show some pics after you purchased. GOOD LUCK!!!!
