Air con light flashing

I was driving last night and put on the ac. The light flashed a few times and went out. I pressed to "auto" button and decreased the temp and the ac light did the same thing. Thoughts?

Somewhat related, I have been hearing what sounds like flappers or doors in the dash cycling back and forth rapidly under the steering column.

I am wondering if I have some kind of electrical climate control gremlin...

You need to hook gauges up to it and check the pressures on the hi/low ports

How cold was it outside? I think the a/c doesn't come on when it's below a certain temp.

I also have a noise under my dash as well. When you hear this noise do you notice decreased air flow out of your dash vents?

Probably a long shot but...have you recently replaced your AC buttons? In the past I replaced my worn AC control panel and started having weird issues until putting the original back on.
