Air ride compressor

Alright, so my compressor for the air ride is leaking. The dealer told me it was the exhaust valve, I'm not throwing any codes or lights.. Yet. For what they have told me, because of the cold weather we have been having ( I live in Maryland) they have had a few people come in with the same problem. Now of course they want to replace the whole damn compressor, annnnnd I don't want to do that if I don't have to. I guess what I'm getting at is I know there isn't a switch it turn the compressor off, BUT since it keeps leaking can I just pull the fuse to stop it from running an won't burn up? An if anybody knows a fix to the exhaust valve cheaper then $500+ I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

The exhaust valve solenoid usually fails due to a broken conductor in the winding, the solenoid can be removed and the broken conductor can be repaired. This is by far the cheapest fix, may just cost time and a bit of solder.

You can disable the autoride system but you will be loosing the height leveling PLUS the auto dampening. If you have no yet experienced the difference in ride quality with autoride off, you will learn quickly it makes a big difference. The other issue with disabling autoride, is the most common solution also disable the variable power steering assist feature (same fuse).

The BEST solution, albeit not the cheapest, is to go get the Dorman 949-000 replacement air compressor. It's a complete assembly, identical to the latest stock part, but can be found for around $200 (plus or minus). Installation is just a matter of 3 bolts and a few plugs, an easy DIY.
