Just bought my first Tahoe. It's a used 2013 LTZ model. I've previously owned Silverados.

I'm in the process of determining the various features and was wondering how can I tell if I have the air ride suspension?

It more than likely does, it's for load leveling, rear only. Both rear shocks have an air bladder towards the top. Should be able to look behind drivers side rear wheel and see it

And welcome

Check your glove compartment. Look at the RPO codes for Z55. If you have that code you have the ALC (automatic level control). Being an LTZ I would bet money you have it.

Yes, it has that code! Thanks kbuskill.

@randee - I do see the air pump behind the driver side wheel.

Curiously, it's really loud when the Tahoe starts up. Do you think that's normal?

I notice when mines running, but i wouldn't say it's loud. Usually just for a few seconds maybe once a week. I don't haul much tho

I think mine is automatic. Don't know if I can turn it off or adjust it.
I suppose it's an air compressor and they can be a little loud as they build pressure.
Thanks for the feedback.

They can be a bit loud when they run, or at least my aftermarket replacement pump is. It only runs for a few seconds so it shouldn’t be too bad.

No it’s not possible to turn it off or adjust it. It’s auto load leveling.

Edit: it is possible to unplug it but I don’t know why you’d want to do that.
