I have a 2000 Tahoe (new body) and the airbag light is constantly on when the truck is running. I had someone with a Tech II scanner read the codes and this is what it came back with:

-B0040 - Left Front/Driver Side Deployment Loop Resistance Low
-B0077 - Left Front/Driver Side Impact Sensor (SIS) Malfunction

I assume this means that left front sensor needs to be replaced.

I took a look underneath and saw one sensor in the center of the radiator cradle. It's part number is 16246305. GMPARTSDIRECT calls that a "front impact sensor". But the error code specifically says "left front".

Has anyone had any experience with this? Also, know where I can find part numbers/mounting locations?

B0040 could be set off with Poor connection, Terminal Damage, Corrosion.
B0077 power up is not detected with in 5 sec.

Remove SIR fuse and crawl under the truck and check SIS for
(Poor connection, Terminal Damage, Corrosion)

99% of the time it is a bad impact sensor.
to confirm swap left & right side sensors if the code follows you know.
when the bad sensor is replaced the airbag light will go out automatically
about the only one that makes them is dorman and those are typically around $70 online. if you can find a oem there usually twice as much.
you might get lucky at the junkyard if it hasn't been stripped already 00-02 should be the same part, they might have changed in 03 not sure.
btw you win the 2011 post resurrection prize
