I'm looking for a decent but not too expensive alarm. I'm only looking for the basics keyless entry, remote start. What are some good alarms to look at nothing more than $180 tho. Also what features should I look for in a decent system?

if that's too low then give a suggestion of something higher. That's why I asked for suggestions.

unknown at this time.
Mine entailed almost $600 in parts involved tearing down the dash and terminating 80+ wires. all soldered and shrink wrapped. still not completely optioned yet but working on it.

are you going to install this yourself, or looking to spend that much including installation? what is your truck info?

all alarms should include (these options vary depending on the vehicle and installation) door/hood/trunk triggers, two stage shock/impact sensor, starter kill (some require additional relay), ignition trigger, parking light flash, keyless entry function, siren, LED, and auxiliary outputs for additional module/accessory control.

that is all for basic, extended functions can include 2way remote communication, cell phone activation/alerts, power window control, GPS tracking, additional sensors (glass break, field disturbance, tilt, sliding window, backup battery, etc.), and many more options that you probably don't want to pay for.

if you have a 97 or older tahoe/yukon, there is no factory immobilizer. 98 and up have an immobilizer which requires additional parts that are not included with most systems.

anyways, you can get a very solid system with a few bells and whistles for what you are looking to spend if you are up to doing the installation yourself. if you buy a system online, good luck with any warranty issues/tech support from most manufacturers (as few online stores/sellers are actually authorized to sell certain brands). otherwise, installation labor of an alarm/remote start will be ~$150 for basic functions through most any reputable shop/installer.

stay away from anything online with a red center in the siren (eBay specials), and anything that is not a current production model to ensure you're not buying something 5+ years old and already failing.

hope this helps some, if you want specific brands pm me.
