I have been running Type S front and rear 6.5's for years. Thinking of upgrading to the type R component (SPR-60C) or type X component (SPX-17PRO). I'm wondering if anyone has used these speakers before. The type X is 100w and the R's are 100 @ 4 ohm. Not sure why the cheaper model has more power but there has to be a reason the type X's cost so much more.

Would a good set up be type X's up front and R's in the rear? Do you really need components in the rear? I have Alpine everything in my Tahoe now and want to keep it that way, just with more power. I don't want some huge custom setup either like 3 components or subs in the door. I want it all to fit factory-ish.

in my ram i have type-r 6.5 componentsin the front and type-r 6.5 coaxials in the rear running off a pdx4.100. i have had this set up for more than 2 years and never once have i had a problem. everything remains crisp and they have no problem keeping up with the 2 type-r 10" in the back. from what i read the rear is only for fill so components would really be pointless, pretty but pointless.

i plan on running a similar set up in my tahoe as well as in my Z when the time comes. i did a lot of searching before i picked these and i am glad i did. they handle plenty of abuse and are very reliable. this is the second vehicle i have ran them in and i have helped plenty of friends install their own set ups.

i never got into the type x for the same confusion. i figure they must be geared towards audiophiles?
