Doing my A/C job yesterday I had to pull the bellypans/splashguards under the engine to get better access to the A/C belt and tensioner. When I dropped the rear guard (the one underneath the oil pan), what looks like a frost plug fell off it. Its what looks to be a small frost plug with a stamped #2 on it. The backside of it was dry, no corrosion with maybe a slight bit of carbon on it. The block doesn't have pressed in frost plugs- it looks like it has a couple threaded in (maybe brass) plugs. I found plugs on the front and rear faces on the cylinder heads but they were just a bit larger (this one fits inside them) and they have a #4 stamped on them. The intake is plastic so I don't think its from it. Nothing is leaking (and if it was a head or block plug, I'd have known immediately when it fell out)....idle and runnability is still excellent so again, I don't think its from the intake side. There is no exhaust racket so I don't believe its from that side either.
Where the f*ck did this thing come from? This is going to drive me crazy.
