Alright my Yukon is all stock under the hood, I would like to add modifications but money of course stops me right now. I am thinking of putting a cold air intake, either AEM or Volant but I am wondering if this would even be a benefit on a all stock Yukon? What would I notice if I added this? I have searched the threads but almost everyone seems to have other modifications done under their hood.

You'll get better throttle response and a nice sound under the hood. Personally, between those two, I'd go with the volant because it's a closed system, keeping out the engine heat.

I got an AEM. I like it a lot and can definitely tell it made a difference in power plus it sounds better. If I could only choose one mod though I would get a tune like black bear.

This is untrue. The IATs are actually lower with an open system.

I believe you are correct, the only way I see these setups improving anything is if you have major engine work and the stock system becomes a major restriction. A stock air system might be a small restriction at the redline, but that is because the restriction can increase air speed throughout the rest of the RPM range our engines spend the majority of their time. So when you see advertisements of HP increases, realize they are usually Max HP at redline, and it might have come from the sacrifice of off idle to mid range torque.
But, many buy them, and their ears and their pride tell them otherwise. But, it's a free market and if people like the looks and sound, then that's great too :Handshake:

I can tell you for sure my truck's performance improved. I don't know if its 10-20 HP better as they advertise but without a doubt it responds and performs better. If I had to do it over, I would do it again. I have a BB tune so maybe that helps over stock, not really sure, but with those two mods the truck is completely different.

Like you said, you are tuned for it, so your engine is able to benefit from it. For stock engines, it is like trying to take a drink out of a fire hydrant.
