Sorry if any of this is/or has been asked before but i have a cpl of questions about my hoe. I have a 04 5.3(Z) LT hoe and was thinking about taking the cats out and putting tubes in place and changing out the cat-back to a flowmaster system. My reason is two fold, one i want a better free flowing exhaust and the second is the 420 error code. The question is what kinds of issues would this cause and is there a better way to go to get the sound and preformance. Trying to keep the out of pocket as low as possible. thanks for any input.

Shouldn't be too much to have a custom system put in place. The exhaust shop I use where I live charges ~$200 for any muffler and tip with install. You should also be able to buy a muffler and tip online and a shop can install them for even less. May not solve the problem though...

There wont be any real issues other than pissed of neighbors. The check engine light will be on unless tuned and having that code removed from the computer. The catalyst efficiency codes are basically saying your cats arent doing theyre job. If they are removed, no sh**. BUT, again the power gains will be worth it once you have a tune and get it turned off.
