hello forum members. OK this is my 1st ever component system, i purchased a set of RE Audio 6.5xxx components: 2ohm /150 rms/ 300 peak.(i honestly got them cuz they look like mini subs) Here's my dilemma. I'm stump on what type of coaxial & amp i should use. I dont want to spend another 200$ on coaxials & on top of that theres not many that can handle 150 rms. Can i just amp up the fronts & have the coaxials powered by the head unit? I have some subs in the truck now (Type R's subject to change) so i dont know if i'll b able to hear the coaxials anyway. Any info, thoughts & opinions on speakers & amps(4 r 2 channel) is well appreciated..

Budget for now under 550ish$

Since the coax will sit in the back, they're basically just for fill. You don't sit back there, so don't be overly concerned with them. You will be able to hear them, even with the sub though, they're hitting different frequencies.

Which amp are you running for the Comps? if it's not 4 channel, take it back or sell it and get one. something that's 600.4 should work well, but that's going to cost you more than $200. I think you can get a 650.4 Kicker for about 3. Then get some nice Infiniti or Alpines for the back.

Thanx Huck..well on my eBay watchlist is Kenwood x600f. Jbl gto1004. Infinity kappa four. Hifonics zxi6406. All under 200$ that kicker amp is a lil more than those but I can add them to the list. I was looking at rockford fosgate T152 for rears. Im confused.. I still need a 4 ch amp if I just want to run the RE comps or is the 4 ch amp for the rears too. I don't want to blow them out

Most coaxials are 4 ohm, and your comps are 2 ohm. So i'd just run the coaxials off the deck and get an amp that matches your power for the components.

coax in rear, and like Huck said a 4 channel will work fine. I have a Kicker 700.5, 5 channel, that does Kicker QS up front and coax in rear door, because like Huck mentioned, I dont care about rear fill as much.
You can fit that for youre budget easy.

For your door speakers a 4 channel amp is ideal (whereas most people get 1 or 2 channel amps for subs). I'd get an alpine or JL amp for your speakers. Hooking up everything to the amp will be way better then just the front components to it and the back 2 coaxes on the head unit.

I just got my hands on a mint condish JL 300/4 that i'll be wiring up to a pair of components in the front and coaxes in the back. :pepper:

Run the 4 ch, don't be ghetto and get only a 2-CH otherwise you won't have that much control over how clean your music is (with the rears coming from the deck with only 15rms won't get too much play and if you drop the bass on the head unit you also drop it on your RCA output). With the 4Ch you can set your HPF differently from front to rear and you can set your gains differently too, all while maintaining a nice EQ setting on the head unit with rich full music an signal for the Amps. You have to know what you're doing when tuning your amp so that you don't blow your rears and so you have clean music all around.

Take the components you have, 2ohm 150 rms, that's right on for the kappa four. Get some infinity coax for the rear rated at about 60-70 rms at 4ohm, amp pushes about 125rms at 4ohm all you have to do is keep the gain down and HPF higher in the 200HZ range to flush the low notes that can harm the speakers with too much excursion. Also listen from clipping and distortion as you adjust everything. On a side note some 2ch amps only offer low pass filter or full range mode which won't do you any good.

^^ As long as it can power the fronts, keep your levels down for the rear to not blow them.
