Any 88-98 style Tahoes with subs under the seats?

As the title asks, I'm wondering if there are any members that have built their own sub boxes to mount under the folding rear seats. I have a Kicker L5 that needs .66-1 cu.ft. of space in a sealed box or 1.25-2.25 cu.ft. in a ported box. I don't believe it's possible to squeeze that much cubic footage out of an area so small for the latter, so atleast for the time being, I'm planning on going with the sealed box. I'd like to see what other people have come up with.

I have found premanufactured boxes but they are only for round woofers and the ones I found only allowed for ~4" of mounting depth where this sub will require 5 9/16" (mounted in 1/2" mdf).

The other option for me to build a box that sits between the two front seats where the factory console went. When I replaced the carpet, I opted to not put the console back in because I like the way it looks without it. If the "under the seat" option doesn't pan out, I can always build a console that doubles as a downfiring sub box. I have seen kits from MTX that include a prebuilt console that comes with a sub and amp for near $800. That's just ridiculous. I could build it and wrap it for a fraction of that. Any opinions on this idea?

I looked at doing that but if you ever needed to lay the seat down to haul anything it wont work, I just built a box into the jack compartment to keep most of my rear area space and mounted my amp under the seat...works great for me

I have thought of that. Where the boxes in the pic above come out even with the front of the fender well, I was thinking of recessing mine into the pockets under the window. It would require cutting out the metal that supports the factory jack on the right side and cutting out plastic on the left, but I think it would work. I'm not a fan of working with fiberglass resin and chopmat so it's not my favorite plan. As for now, I just have the boxes the speaker came to me in sitting in the cargo area. It's uglier than a mud fence but it works.
