I tried doing a search, maybe I'm doing it wrong but I'm looking for some writeups on shock/strut replacement

I like to look at various videos to get best understanding.

I can’t remember the socket size but get a universal/swivel (knuckle) socket for the top bolts for the rear shocks. I just changed all 4 shocks and lowered the rear of my Escalade and without the swivel socket I would’ve had to run every extension I had over to the drivers side top bolt to get it out. Swivel socket can get it without even crawling under the truck. Honestly those top bolts are the only “difficult” part of the job unless you’re compressing the front springs.
