I’m considering purchasing either a 2014 or 2015 Tahoe. I realize there was a model refresh in 2015, so I’m wondering based on people‘s current knowledge if there were any major issues or problems with the 2014 (and before) or 2015 (and after) models which would make it worth skipping out on either. If not, what are the most predominant issues with the either model that I should be aware of before considering a purchase?

Wind buffering
A/C failure
Vibration
shuttering

just a few off the top of my head

some owners experience some- some NONE- so my advice is test drive and then test drive, and when done ........test drive some more.

2015 issue are well documented here and see what happens when you google 2015 Tahoe/yukon/escalade problems

A Google of 2015 Tahoe/yukon/escalade problems
is rather scary. Although I know when you research anything you come up with the issues, not the good parts.

I wanted a 2015 for the new motor,
and although my 2014 is the end of the line, at least it was out a while and there are not any surprises.

Bear in mind that when you ask a question like this one on an internet forum, people who have had negative experiences will be drastically overrepresented.

This forum in particular is more of a problem and decision Q&A and less of a brand and model enthusiast group. Half or more of the people who post here seem to be asking about or airing laundry about a specific problem that they think they have.

When I bought mine I asked a couple mechanics I trust locally who see Tahoes in their shops (or don't). Universally I got the thumbs up, and universally they told me that when these things do break it doesn't take a PhD to fix them.

I'm n=1 but my 2016 experience has been fine so far. Couple rattles inside, that's about it.

You'll hear a lot about a buffeting issue around here and there are threads devoted to it. I don't hear it and I'm not sure I believe it exists as an discrete engineering issue, versus people hearing vibration transmitted through the chassis that should be expected in a body-on-frame truck. But in any case, if it does exist it should be detectable on a test drive.

JD Power gives these trucks very good marks.

Before I bought mine I also asked my trusted independent mechanic who was keeping my 2005 Impala [9CI Package] and 2005 Expedition running for close to 300K miles..He said the same thing as yours plus he is planning to buy one next year.

I also rented several 2015 and 2016 Tahoe's and Suburban's [with around 40K miles on them before I bought one] and found zero issues with them..I also asked over a dozen owners who I came in contact with in parking lots and rest areas [while I was on long trips and even locally] and no one had a negative thing to say about them..Plus I have been in several Livery Suburban's and Tahoe's in Miami&NYC and all drivers really liked them.

I am not saying none of them have issues but it seems to be blown out of proportion on this board big time..Rarely does someone come on a forum to say how much they love it..Last I looked sales of the Tahoe's have been very strong.

Yup, test drive the heck out if it, then you'll know for sure if it has/doesn't have the buffeting/booming or vibration issues, cause if it does you'll hate it. A good mechanic can tell you the rest. If you get a good one, they are super smooth on the highway and very comfortable on long drives.

I run 2 Tahoe’s a15/16 and 15 suburban. I have a combined 85,000 miles on them.
No vibrations or buffering. I had a radio that needed rebooting, and the wireless charging is not up to par. The dealership had some issues trying to install aftermarket Piaa headlights but that’s about it.
Car starts on demand has been very reliable and I have no complainants.
I’m in the process of changing the burb because it’s at the end of its lease. I came to the forum looking to see what mods people did to their trucks and I guess see what their problems were/are

what others have said for list of issues to search.

do a couple of good test drives, on diff road types... pay attention btwn 20-80ish for the buffeting/vibration issues. bring others w/ you. some people are more sensitive to the issues than others.

if you find a good one, get it.

mine has been good. 45k+ so far

The Vibration problem does exist 100% I bought a 16 Escalade certified used this July with 22K and I did NOT feel any vibration on the test drive. Got it home after a 3 1/2 road trip ( wife drove home ) and I noticed it the next day. I thought it was bad wheel balance. After 13 weeks in the dealer and 2 case numbers with GM I sold the piece of junk. There is no fix if you get a bad vibrating truck period. My truck had 8 new tires, about 5 road force balances, trans fluid flush, trans valve body, torq converter, drive shaft, ring and pinion, steering wheel mounts. They checked all mounts, axels and everything on running gear and could not get rid of it. It's made headline news. I drove 3 new GM rental vehicles and they all had slight vibrations.
