Any special considerations for ordering lift parts for 2000 Z71?

Hi all - new owner here.

I'm already getting used to telling people I have a 1999 when I'm parts shopping, but the Z71 complicates it.

I want a very modest lift - 2-3" After reading the sticky up there about staying away from the RC Kit which eventually evolves into everything is fine with the newer kits.

I go to the RC site and you can only pick '99 or '00 Tahoe with no reference to Z71. Normally I'd just pick '99 and be on my way, but aren't they completely different axles? ie. 2500 axles on a 1500?

Surely just a run of the mill '99 1500 kit wouldn't fit wouldn't fit, would it?

I know someone will chime in with "well you can crank it up that much", but I'm looking to maintain the ride. I'm not looking to cheap out. I just want to do it right and not get a nasty surprise while I'm crawled up under my truck.

Thanks for looking.

No difference. Identical to 99s. Z71 is an appearance package.

IMO crank stock keys 1" and run a 285 (32.9") 1" wont change ride quality, and I ran 285s with no crank.

The z71 had the same driveline as a 99 but it was supposed to have the 3/4ton leafs and 14 bolt from what I understand.

Nope.

Someone needs to edit the Wikipedia page about the 2000 Z71 Tahoe, and where it says they have "3/4 ton suspension package."

My advice is get the Rough country 4" kit. You will be much happier in the long run. This kit yields 4-6" depending on how you crank the bars. decranked it looks great on 33s, crank it to 6 and put an AAL in and run 35s.

I see what you're saying, but I have a concern there.

If I put 4 in and decrank the front, won't that be the opposite of leveling, giving it even more rake?

Also, and unrelated - I like the bedliner job on your truck. anything to watch out for?

The 4" kit comes with the full drop drop kit and a 4" block. It should sit level. the 6" kit just includes the add a leaf. That's why the prices are so close

The black tahoe has the RCX 4" kit set around 4-5" on 33s. The suburban has the 6" kit set about 6" on 35s

The bottom of my tahoe is actually paint, not bedliner. It is a grey metallic
