Any tips on replacing the alternator and belt?

So I suspected the alternator on our 1995 Tahoe was on its way out when we bought it, but now I know it is just a matter of time. The voltage will drop all the way to 10-11 volts or so, plus it is making one heck of a noise. It almost sounds like the truck is supercharged now, I'm assuming it is a bearing that is making all the noise. I already bought a new (not reman) Delco alternator from Amazon, I figured for $85 shipped with a 2 year/24,000 mile warranty was not too shabby. I plan on replacing the belt at the same time, because for $25 why not? I've never done a repair like this, but it does not seem to hard. I've watched numerous YouTube videos and it looks like a 30 minute job, tops. Gee I wish I knew that before forking over hundreds of dollars to repair shops for the same thing in the past. Any tips/tricks to make it a painless process? The only tool I do not have is a breaker bar, I'm assuming I can use my torque wrench with a socket at the end? Thanks ahead of time for any input.

Derek, you can do it. Remove battery ground cable before you start. Make sure the belt routing decal is there for instruction, if not, your owners manual has illustration. Before starting engine, double check the belt for correct alignment. Good luck.

Thanks for the encouragement lol. I figured if I can fix my leaking dishwasher sump than I can do this. Is the serpentine belt totally self adjusting in terms of tension? I'm assuming the belt itself "loosens" up over time? I got a Continental/Goodyear belt as they seem to have very good reviews. Yes, I do see the routing diagram for the belt. Looks pretty straightforward, now if only this could have happened in any season except winter.

The idler where you put your pull bar does all the adjustment you need. You take the tension off the belt to remove it, and do the same to replace the belt.. The idler does the rest.
