Anyone Do A New Vinyl Job On The Interior?

I`m the original owner of a 97 2-dr Yukon. About a year ago my dogs tore up the back top panel just below the side glass. Each panel is about 5 ft wide and only about 8 in high (simple/easy shape). Looks like I can get this panel off and re-vinyl.
Question is what kind of vinyl to use (thickness/reinforced)? Thick enough to be durable and thin enough to wrap the edges of the panel? Or may not have to wrap as the perimeter of the panel is covered up by mouldings.
And, what kind of glue? Seems contact cement is overkill if it ever had to be replaced again.

Any experiance would be of big help. Thanks

Mine has peeled back from the glass on the back panels under the glass in the rear section. I'm looking to do the same thing as a whole interior overhaul is in order.

Peeled back? Does your vinyl have a padded sponge backing? Mine does and doesn't seem like it would peel?

I went to a fabric store today to see what is available. Seems I can get something there that is pretty durable.

What year/interior color/2 or 4dr do you have?

1997 2 door. It's grey....for now

3m makes a really good spray adhesive for headliners that I have used on door panels, I bought it at Oreilly for like 10 bucks. Holds up nice and the spray is convenient

I use 3M for different things. I know they have several formulas for different materials. I`ll have to check it out to see if there`s something that is not permanent, in case it needs to be done again in the future.

After taking off the rear corner post molding to try to get the horizontal panel off below the window, I still can not figure out how this sucker goes together. The top of this narrow panel is clipped. But the bottom of it is a puzzle. With it being nearly 20 year old plastics, I sure how someone chimes in on how it goes together as I don`t need to break anything. I tried YouTube with no luck.
Anyone take this panel off?

Welp, after doing more searching on the web with the only thing I found was a couple of others looking to do the same thing as me, I loosened the back end of the passenger side, side cargo panel from its clips. Only to discover the small panel I need to re-vinyl appears to be clipped to the larger panel that goes to the floor. They are not simply press fit clips and seem to be plastic welded on. As I didn't have time to take the whole thing out and play with it, I`ll have to come up with something to re attach once these two panels are apart and re vinyled.
I can see now why there is no info on it.
