anyone do E-fans on a obs??

I went to the pick-n-pull and got a 1995 Lincoln MK8 fan and a fan from a 1996 Lincoln Continental. The Continental is the same diameter but has one less blade but looks to have a steeper blade pitch. I hooked each of them up to the battery (free air) and the MK8 spins a whole lot faster and moves more air. I may try to swap motors and see if the conti moves more air or not.

During research, I did see several articles online about the continental having overheating problems. Both vehicles have the same engine. The conti has a little bit larger shroud. Gonna play with each of them to find the best shroud/motor/blade combination to move the most air, but I have a feeling the MK 8 will win.

Hi guys ,

Clearly I under-estimated the group interest in getting rid of our (OBS) inefficient and noisy OEM belt-driven clutch fan cooling ... rather than hijack Clean95's thread I will post an easy to follow "how to" along with pictures if members with questions need some help - PM or request here and I'll put it together provided there is interest :)

Onebad - any chance you can put together the "how-to". My big question is regarding wiring, harnesses, temp sensor etc etc. I saw the wiring diagram, but it's greek to me as electronics are really my weakness.

Also, can we somehow splice into the temp sensor on the block and use that to turn the fan off/on?

Yeah you can that's how I ran mine. I can post pictures if you want ...

FOR OEM LOOK and keep the existing fan shroud, you can get an 18" Fan or a fan from a mid-90's town car.

Hey guys, so I just finishd installing my mark8 Efan... I used a controllable temp sensor probe, its set at 160... But my truck temperature is going crazy... And at stops it gets up 2 about 240...Anyone else experience this..?

Hummm... And another thing... I keep blowing the main power to the fan fuse... It came with a 25 fuse but im using a 30 fuse... And its still blowing...

a bad controller or probe placement. And why is it set a 160?

Sorry I forgot to add im using the hayden 3647 temp sensor... And im not sure why its set that low... I have the controller placed on the stock shroud & the probe near the radiator cap... But Ive been playing around with the settings till I get it rite...
