I am thinking of replacing the stock driving light bulbs in my '05 Z71 with 35 watt HID bulbs. Has anyone done this? Is the 35 watt going to be too hot for the lens? I don't want to melt them. I hear some people say they run 25 watt HID's but I was planning on running VVME's. The lowest they make is the 35 watt ballast.

Have had 35w 3000k's in my fogs for a couple days now, have had them on full time just to see if there were any heat issues and so far, no damage or discoloration noted!

Good luck!

I have 35 watt hids in my tahoe fogs and no issues. Can't imagine why the z71's wouldn't be able to handle them. As far as the driving lights go, I have leds so I'm not sure.

I have a LS, but I have a Z-71 air dam and fogs. I have had 35w HIDs in my fogs from the day I installed them 3years ago. On top of that, I leave my fogs on ALL the time. If I am driving, then the fogs are on day or night. (They are even on in my sig pic, lol.) Only issues I had was my bulbs barely lasted a year. But replacement bulbs are pretty cheap, I got some for under $20 on EBay. So I will continue to use my fogs as DRLs AND fogs.
