My Yukon has ~175k miles and the cats are done. I priced out a stock replacement and it's about the price of a LT & ORY setup. So I started looking around and Jegs sells an ORY for the stock manifolds. Anyone using it with the stock catback? I was wondering how much louder it would be without the cats.

If I get this setup it puts me one step closer to my turbo setup too so that's another reason to consider it IMO and for $190 the price isn't too bad either.

The ORY has 2.5" pipes with a 3" stock style connector.

What do you guys think?

not a bad deal and would definately free up exhaust flow. perfect excuse for a tune also.

how hard would it be to remove the stock y pipe and hollow out the cats and reinstall? that would be free and solve your problems. would still need a tune.

it says it wont fit 00-02 with the flat spot though. see if yours has that. ive never actually looked at mine to see.

I'm pretty sure my tube wasn't flat, but I would have to look.

And I have cut out cats before and I like the simple bolt on idea better, I could have the ORY on hand for a simple swap rather than fabbing something up. Plus you don't get the airy sound you get with hollowed cats and that is worth the price to me.

I have the Jegs ORY sitting in a box in my garage waiting for me to get time to install it. I'm also going to install new head gaskets/head studs, new valve springs & valve seals, and maybe get a Isky Triple 12 cam. Then get it tuned and drive it like that until spring, then its getting a 76mm On3 turbo with 10-14 psi and a 4l80 swap.

I hope to get everything installed in the next couple weeks, but a room remodel has been more expensive than we had originally planned......Imagine that haha

BTW the Y pipe looks pretty good. Only thing I don't like is the cheap ass clamps that come with it and it has thread inserts (nutzerts) for the O2s rather than welded in bungs. It has a factory style flange but is 3" instead of the stock 2 3/4"

I just replaces my stock cats/y-pipe with an aftermarket one and it was a chore. Anyways you'll most likely have to drop the tranny mount and cross member to install it.

The Jegs ORY is 2 pieces and if I struggle getting the old one out I do have a sawzall lol

Mine is 2 piece as well. The issue is the exhaust flange catches the floorboard on the passenger side even with a 2 piece. I hope you get lucky and don't have to drop the cross member because it'll take the wind outta your sails when you think you're almost done.

lol thanks for the heads up, but I'm used to that feeling of almost being done and hitting a snag
