At a loss.

Hello.
I'm new to this , but I am running out of options. I have a 99 yukon slt 173000 miles. It seems to be one problem after another. My first problem started about three weeks ago, I get in my truck to go and it will not crank. I turn the key and I get the motor to act like it wants to start but never does. Someone told me fuel pump. Well I can here the fuel pump running. I changed the fuel filter. Ended up killing the battery trying to start it. Well with the help of some starter fluid I got it started and the truck ran good for about three weeks. The the problem started again. I let it sit for a couple hours and she fired right up. Now the service light is on and I'm getting codes for idle control. And o2 sensor in bank 2. Question is will this keep the truck from starting?

No I didn't. I simply pushed the pin in to see if I had any fuel in the line.

the vortec requires a minimum of 50 psi to start but can experience all sorts of problems if it drops under 55psi. your starting psi may be under 55 and that can cause it not to start some times and even slow start other times. I would recommend putting a gauge on it just to check

The service light comes on and off. This morning it was off

Service engine soon and Security are 2 different lights. Security is all about the Pass Key system. If the system thinks the truck is being stolen it will keep it from starting or cause it to stall right after starting. Worth ruling out in your case.

well in that case no the security light isn't on. I called the local part store to see if they could check the pressure in the line and they told me I could rent the tool for 107.00. The words I said in my head I will keep to myself. But I did find a gauge at walmart for 34.00. Going to pick it up after work.

okay something new, I have correct pressure in the gas line. But while I was at the gas pump this weekend I went to start the truck it wouldn't say a word. So I tried it a couple more time and it starts up. But the thing that gets me is I had the radio off (after market) and when the truck start so did the radio. this truck Is a big puzzle to me.
