Got your PM dude, but the rules here won't let me respond to a PM until I have more posts. Didn't want you to think I was ignoring you, so to answer your question:
Hey Mike,
Gonna come down to a few things including how much time you want to spend and your budget. Understand that you cannot REMOVE swirls and scratches by hand... it simply won't work. At a minimum you're looking at having to get a Porter Cable, pads, polishes, etc. If you do want to work by hand the best you're gonna see is a reduction in the appearance of the swirls/scratches, but no where near removal.
Beyond that you'll need good wash supplies, no sense in getting the paint corrected, then just undoing all your hard work the first time you wash.
Anticipate spending about $300+/- to get the machine, pads, polishes, etc. (Kit B2002 on our site would be a good starting point)
Another $40+/- to get good wash supplies. (Kit K-CWTrio on our site is a good start)
The upside is that the PC is very easy to learn how to use and virtually impossible to damage your paint with it even if you're a novice. Have you watched out instructional videos yet?? Thats always a decent idea before buying anything so you can understand what products you're getting and why. Helps you make a better decision about what kits to get for yourself.
Tahoewhat said:dylan,
i have seen you on gmfs, nice avalanche. But i have a black 05 tahoe and am wanting to bring it back. I got it used and looks like the owner went through the gas station car washes. The swirls and scratches all over. Nothing real bad, but when fully cleaned, they stand out terrible. I am just wanting to get it back to black looking w/o all the swirl marks. And also without spending a whole lot of money at the moment. I have no supplies and have never buffed a car or detailed it before. Never really needed to, i guess. Usually just drove them.
If you have any ideas or things i could buy, that i could possibly start off small with i would greatly appreciate it.
thanks
mike
