Anyone having problems with the auto extending running boards? My 2012 Tahoe LTZ has a problem that I believe was created last winter when ice built up under the truck and prevented the boards from retracting correctly. The pass side is the only one I seem to be having problems with. I can close the door and sometimes nothing while other times it will retract and then open again. I believe it may require a trip to a dealer to get this resolved unless someone has had this problem and knows a DIY fix.

I probably can't help here, but I just picked up a '12 Suburban with the auto running boards. I was scared this would happen to them and sorry to hear your issue. I would probably turn them off on the console and get it checked by the dealer.

Good advice. I've read that using WD40 on the hinge points might help and I plan on doing that today. I'll let you know if that changes anything.
