Im experiencing some bad axle wrap on my 2 door. The yoke is traveling about 2 to 3 inches either way. Ive never heard of axle wrap before a few days ago and I cant find any real solid answers other than to spend $250 on some "traction" bars. I did see this thread on a Tacoma forum where the guy used add-a-leads in the from of the springs instead of rhe middle. Problem is I already have add-a-leafs on the truck and I dont think that will work. I have 3 inch blocks and 33 inch tires and no engine mods. And I check and double check the u-bolts and yes they are tight.

Could weak leaf springs be my problem?

Weak springs and 3 inch blocks are the problem. Long bars may help, I would do the springs first, a little bit stiffer might be better at controlling some of the wrap. Alternately you can get a pinion snubber on the body/frame like some of the cars had and play with that.

When I had axle wrap (on a 4x4 jeep without lift blocks) I tried springs and a weak bar. They didn't work. The bar broke. I eventually had to go with a full on anti wrap bar mounted parallel to the drive shaft. It was crazy how much my pinion rotated. The springs ended up bent a little.

With a stock motor , that tire size and blocks that size you shouldn't be experiencing Axle wrap at all , Generally Axle wrap occurs when you have too much power . and the Axle wants to roll under or over your drive shaft .(pass) the only guys that usually have issue with Wrap is Diesels . Not gas motors they don't make enough power . I have 5.5 inch blocks and a "modded" motor and I have no Axle wrap issues . A lot of people get Axle wrap confused with normal Yoke travel. in your defense 2-3 inches is a bit much unless your off road going through some tight obstacles. the yoke will travel 1-2 inches while driving . springs may help this issue but I don't know if this will help . as leaf springs only really control vertical movement . True Axle wrap is lateral and usually looks like the truck Lifts up or squats heavily

Here is a good example of axle wrap notice the Axle wants to "wrap " or pass the drive shaft .

Thanks for all the info guys. Upon further inspection today I noticed that my lift blocks are actually pinched and smashed causing them to roll back and forth on the axle. They are aluminium (stupidest thing to make them out of imo). I will take some pics later and post them on this thread. I replaced them today and it eliminated about 90% of the problem. The only ones I could find to replace them were aluminium too. Im gonna have to find some steel ones asap.
