Okay so I saw on eBay that I could pick up an OEM back up camera for around $60. I emailed the dealership and asked them how much will it cost to install. The guy says he doesn't want to get involved in aftermarket parts. I told him its OEM but he's weary since I bought it online. I think its kinda BS they would pass on my business. My truck already has an aftermarket camera. There's a switch that you hit to turn it on rather than it coming on when you put it in reverse. But the wires appeared like someone cut them and it doesn't work anyways. I'd really like to have a properly functioning camera but I also don't want to pay an arm and a leg for it. Any suggestions? Are the cameras on eBay worth buying and having installed or am I better off just having the dealer do the entire install? Or is it simple enough where I can do it myself? I've read some threads on here where people installed them and had to go to the dealer to get reflashed. Thank you for your input.

If your wanting a full oem install you still have to purchase 2 harnesses and a module...they aren't cheap.

I have also bought the OEM camera, and have been waiting for a 12v to 5v 3a converter to come in from china so I can just do the install myself. The camera cost $35, the dc/dc power converter was $5. So all you do is tap in to the reverse light power for the input to the power converter, take the output of the converter to the power wires on the camera. Run the signal wires up to your nav screen, go get it programmed and your good to go...

I will do a "real" write up on this once I get the converter from china, Ive been waiting a month. :(

If you don't feel comfortable doing it, you could go the expensive route and have your dealer install it with all OEM harnesses and modules, or you could take it to your local audio shop and tell them what you want so they can wire it up, then take it to the dealer for programming.
