Just made the crossover from explorers to a tahoe. Its a 98 4x4, it has a skip to it like a spark plug is out, the vehicle runs and drives like a dime minus the skip, it runs obdII code 300 which I believe is multiple misfire, also it backfires... just wondering if anyone else has had this problem? I've changed the plugs and it still skips.. all answers encouraged! Thanks, sidney.

Did you read your plugs when you pulled the old ones out to determine which cylinders were missing?

Did you change the wires? If not that was the problem I was having and got lucky and found a set of wires on Ebay for $60 new, and Advance auto parts wanted $150 for the A/C Delco wires.

And like Bigbody 250 adds, change the cap and rotor also.

Without knowing which cylinders are misfiring or what the plugs looked like all you can do is the normal plugs, wires, cap and rotor... If that doesn't clear it up it's most likely your spider... There's a few threads right below this regarding that

yeah the backfiring makes it seem like your your spider has a jammed injector or screwy regulator. you still have the old plugs? Acdelco parts can be gotten cheap from Amazon. If it turns out to be the injection system a newly redesigned one can be had for about $250.
