So I wasn’t planning to replace the stock head unit in my ‘03 Yukon with Bose, but that didn’t last long. I just ordered this decent looking Pioneer from Crutchfield with the needed accessories to retain chimes, wheel controls, etc.. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_130AV2550/Pioneer-AVH-2550NEX.html?tp=20217
One reason I wanted to upgrade, is I really want a backup camera as well as a dash cam. So I’m looking for recommendations for these things. What have you used? What works well, best mounting options, etc..

Cool man!!! :)

DO you have a tailgate or barn doors? The license plate mount ones work good but look tacky.

I hid one of these up in the license hood cover on the back tailgate of mine.

I bought a little EachPai X9, Dual Dash Cam. Inexpensive and takes decent photos but nothing high resolution. It's filmed a lot of interesting stuff, including the take down of a drug dealer right in front of the truck by about a dozen cops, a domestic where the police surrounded a house and had the people come out with their hands up, couple of car accidents, interesting things on the side of the road and of course the drunkards inside when I drive for Uber in all their glory.

I would buy another camera, technology is advancing for same price point, would want better night vision especially for interior. This camera also overheats sometimes and in certain situations but it runs ALL the time.

Always leave the camera running when you are away from home and out of the car, amazing the stuff it picks up! Once filmed a guy in the mall parking lot using my truck's mirror to shave with!

Tailgate, and agree the license plate style cams look cheesy. I couldn’t get your link to work. I was reading the thread about modifying the push button to house a camera, and that’s a pretty sweet way to do it. I’m just not sure I want to go through all that. Maybe... referring to this thread: Best backup camera install

I had factory rear cam on my 2010, but it displayed in a small screen on the rear view mirror. I bought one of these and wired it up to my Kenwood head unit no problem. I put it in the same location as the factory camera (right above the license plate) and it works great.

I just installed this same cam in a second car and it also worked as expected.

Check out this post for a some great info about the install process:
