I ordered the banks intake but didn't pull the trigger on the scoop. Curious if anyone has used or know of anyone that has the super scoop if it's worth it?

I'd say based on the fact that is drawing outside air that it would be better than normal intakes that only take in from the engine bay.

I am a little surprised they dont block off the standard air intake opening in the side of the box, but that could be rectified pretty easily.

Have you installed it yet? Curious as to fit and finish. Wonder how the scoop would work for SUV's, if I am reading their fitment right, it probably doesnt work for suvs or would require more modifications.

No I haven't ordered the scoop. I ordered the intake and it should be here within a few days - about a week. It looks like it would be cut out of the air dam/deflector below the bumper. At least it's that way on a pic of a pickup that I seen. I may just get it and say screw it.

Report back on the intake and if you do get the scoop... someone has to be the guinea pig :)

Def interested to know about the scoop, I would love a true cold air intake

Other than a slight ram air effect, I'm not sure what a Bank's scoop will do for you since the existing intake already uses outside cold air.

Just curious why you chose the Banks intake over the others?

Volant has a scoop that is designed to install around the opening where the tow hook sticks through the bumper. Looks much more discreet than the Banks set up. I'm not sure if anyone has installed it and if they have any proven results.

My buddy has the same setup (minus the scoop) on his 09 Silverado with the results he said he really liked. So I went with first hand results I guess lol

While not on a truck, I have a RamIT ram air system on our 95 Impala SS, and I really like it. Standing outside the car, you can hear the hiss of the intake, but that's a side benefit. I think it's partially-responsible for our 26-28 MPG cruise mileage in the car.

Might have to look at this part for our '10 PPV. :hmmm2:

There is no empirical data that shows that ram air works, and doing the math on the physics, doesn't add up. If a ram air system really worked, there would be less vacuum in the manifold at wide open throttle at high speeds. We haven't seen any difference in manifold vacuum with a ram air over any other intake.

Today I had some time and started installing the kit. Got everything under the hood done and the inner wheel well removed and most of the scoop prepped. Just have to trim the valience and install the scoop prob tomorrow afternoon some time.

Wether or not the scoop will make a huge difference or not it looks kinda cool..
