battery charge indicator gauge

I have 2019 Yukon and Yesterday I was driving and noticed the battery charge indicator gauge was reading about 12V, when I stopped to fill up gas, and started the truck again it went up above 14v like what it was before, then I stopped at the store to do some shopping, and again it was 12v, have anyone experienced the same problem?
the Car is the factory settings I have not add anything to it or modified. the only new thing I did was adding on star.

it's normal, read up on gm rvc charging system

I'm sure these would have the Regulated Voltage Control (RVC) system like the previous generations. It uses a sensor to detect the load on the electrical system and stops the alternator from charging the battery when it's not needed. The battery voltage will fluctuate and dip in to the 11s. If you wanna test it, next time it's reading low, turn the A/C on full blast. Maybe turn the headlights on to add extra load. The voltage gauge should rise.

I will add even though some fluctuation is normal if it is moving around a LOT, like more than normal then that may be indicative of a battery that is getting dated, just something I have noticed before.

Thank you guys for the tips, I will keep an eye on it, I was thinking of replacing the battery, but if the (RVC) has something to do with that I will hold on the battery.

I do the same thing when it drops down to 11 lol works every time.

Long time ago someone told me that in a Chevy if all the gauges , oil, temp, volt sit at 12 O clock your golden

If the battery is original, you might consider replacing it in the next year or so depending on which part of the country you live.

i used to do that in my race cars and truck, all the gauges were twisted so the normal range had the needles straight up.

Other car makers as well. The idea is to have all the normal/good positions be at 12 o'clock so that you can verify all is well with a quick glance at the cluster and not have to read the actual numbers. It's to reduce the time your eyes are diverted from the road.
