I know this topic has been beat to no end but I'm looking into doing a blackbear tune and I was wondering what kinds of gains I could expect to see from a BB tune. I have a 2008 tahoe LTZ with the 5.3 flexfuel. It has 5.5" of lift on 275/65/R20s and I currently have everything stock besides a volant CAI and magnaflow muffler. Any one with any ideas of what I can look to see please let me know. Thanks in advance.

maybe 1 mpg better.... ALOT depends on what fuel you run and what tune you get....

x2 , Just remember a 87 tune won't net you much power vs a 93 , Take this into account when deciding . Also Just a FYI make sure you fill your tank with the desired Fuel grade tune before you meet for the tune :evillol:

to be honest i would just get the 91 octane tune, better for your engine to run premium and the extra price in gas will be made up by mpg and hp gains.

For the first time in History I disagree ,unless Im a total idiot I don't think the Offset Of 89 to 93 will net you enough power gains to offset the cost of fuel for it , maybe Im biased who knows just my 2 dollars

I mean I have to fill up at least once a week as it is so it would have to be a pretty big difference to make it worth it in gas. That being said, I only get 9.7 mpg currently so there should definitely be room for improvement.

Each persons experience is going to be different based off what truck they have and what type of driving they do and how they drive their truck. 91 octane does me good because i drive over 20 miles to and from work each day on the highway. Others might not.

I gotcha, thanks for your input man, I drive like 15-20 miles a day but it's pretty much strictly in town. I tow a decent amount in the summer on the highway, but I don't know if that makes any difference at all. Also, the tahoe is currently sitting around 105k miles, again I don't know if that makes any difference.

With the 5.3L you should be running a minimum of 89 even on the stock tuning.
