Ok so on my Nissan Sentra B16 theirs an option that says "O/D off" (Over Drive Off) On the manual it says O/D off is used if you need engine breaking assistance but on post it said you gain acceleration. So if I turn the O/D off I do get this super crazy increase in acceleration but loose a super huge amount of top speed. So if I want to pull out fast on a red light I turn on that option and it lets the engine REV really high (I haven't tried to rev it on or more on red line i leave it under) and then when the Revs are about to go on red line I turn it off and it starts driving normal.
On my Chevy Astro in the gear selection theirs this gear with an O and a D inside of it (Over Drive) and next to it theirs another gear D (Drive) in the manual it says Over Drive gives you a 1:.86 (1 full tire turn : .86 engine turn) and in D "Drive" its a 1:1 ratio, And that Over Drive is used for normal driving n saves more gas and Drive is for more power but top speed decrease and should be used for hauling. Still using Drive give the van so much acceleration compare to Over Drive because it lets the engine REV up way more.
So I was reading the manual for my 03 Tahoe but did not find any thing like that other than 4Low gives you Maximum Torque. And Haul mode gives you smooth gear change pulling a trailer. I don't see any thing like that Over Drive and Drive gear as I read in the manual that Drive can be used to pull heavy loads as well as normal driving so other than using the gear "1","2","3" is there another way to get that awesome acceleration as my other cars? Just wondering.
Note: all are stock but that "Over Drive off" mode does a real magical thing for accel.
